Purple mushrooms are a thing! This is the Violet Webcap type, or Cortinarius violaceus
How great is this fabric for the cap? I couldn't believe how organic looking this purple fabric was and I bought all I could find, but is wasn't very much and I'm almost at the end of the stash. Matching purple gills and stem make this a very purple plushroom indeed. This type doesn't have a universal veil that sticks around. Instead the spores are orange and leave rust colored marks on the stem. At the bottom are 2 tags - one with care instructions and the other has this mushroom's names.
In the spirit of fungi, I try to bring trash to back to life when making my Plushrooms. I stuff them with upcycled polyester floof that is a byproduct from a local factory and I divert it from the landfill. I source many of the fabrics from thrift and second hand shops. I wash and check each piece for quality before using.
They are weighted with rice to stand on their own, so that you can have a fluffy mushy growing just about anywhere in your home!
Large mushrooms stand 10" tall and about 10" wide. These have orange paint on the stem to represent the orange colored spores
Small mushrooms are 8" tall and about 8" wide. Still pretty big for a mushroom!
Mushrooms are rarely seen alone. Collect a whole family!
