This guy has quite the hairdo! This Plushroom is based on the Old Man of the Woods Bolete, or Strobilomyces strobilaceus mushroom. Back by popular request!
These are made with white faux fur with black spikes painted on by hand for his crazy texture. Under the cap is a poka dotty cotton (boletes have pores instead of gills so not corduroy like most plushrooms) The stem is made from a soft grey upholstery fabric. At the bottom are 2 tags - one with care instructions and the other has this mushroom's names.
In the spirit of fungi, I try to bring trash to back to life when making my Plushrooms. I stuff them with upcycled polyester floof that is a byproduct from a local factory and I divert it from the landfill. I source many of the fabrics from thrift and second hand shops. I wash and check each piece for quality before using.
They are weighted with rice to stand on their own, so you can have a fluffy mushy growing just about anywhere in your home!
Large mushrooms stand 10" tall and about 10" wide.
Small mushrooms are 8" tall and about 8" wide. Still pretty big for a mushroom!
Mushrooms are rarely seen alone. Collect a whole family!
